Webtroy has never finished building the fence for rose, but once alberta dies, he immediately decides that he wants to finish building the fence to keep mr. Stage directions tell us that it's six months later. Their conversation reveals that it's been months since the revelation of troy's affair with alberta, that troy's been home. Rose is questioning his commitment to their family and asking. Scene 2 takes place six months later with rose and troy on the porch. Troy enters from the house and starts to walk off. Very quickly the audience is able to see the ways in which rose and troy’s life has unraveled.
